It’s easy after the first couple of weeks of a new year to just forget about any goals that sounded good on Jan. 1. And here I am making it even harder to set new goals each month and follow up on the previous month. It would be really easy to just forget I even said I’d do this.
Anyway, here’s a look at how February went:
✅ Run/bike 120 miles
I got just past 120 miles on the last day of the month. I would have preferred to run more than I biked, but the weather – especially the lingering ice early in the month – kept me inside a few more times than I wanted … which actually helped hit this goal.
❌ Work on those abs
Why did a set a goal of an ab-related workout streak??? I’ll never know, but it was a complete failure.
🤘 Listen to new music
The goal was simple – listen to 4 albums from new-to-me (or only vaguely-familiar-to-me) artists or bands. This goal opened up the whole month of exploring a lot of artists/bands that were new to me. That should be another post sometime.
MARCH’S GOALS
Increase long run to 8 miles
Normally I’d be focused on 10-mile runs for the second half of March, but this winter has really put a damper on increasing my running miles as much as I want.
Continue 100+ miles for the month
January and February are my first months of back-to-back months of at least 100 miles of both biking and running in a long time, so why not make it a 3-month streak?
Finish up spring yard work
I got a huge pile of woodchips in February to spruce of my yard. I really, really, really want to be done with that pile by the end of the month and not have any left for the rest of the spring.
