Hot weather, smoky skies, and a lack motivation led to a July that felt OK. Nothing great. Nothing really too bad. The 100-mile streak of running + biking miles continued, but it didn’t feel like enough. Weight-training also continued, but not quite at the same intensity.
Here’s a look at my goals and how things went:
â 6-mile long run
I don’t feel bad about missing this goal as it didn’t really make sense to push it that far just yet. I got my long run to 5 miles though – the longest run in July in 7 years.
𤡠10-mile weekly bike rides
Yes, I rode 10 miles each week, but this included trying to get faster every week, which I missed by about 15 seconds in my final 10 miler. Not great, but not bad.
â Publish my beach haikus
Click/tap here for this one. I like having a non-running goal each much, and this one definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone.
As for August, I feel like I need to push myself a little harder.
8-mile long run
I’m going to keep hitting miles this summer than I haven’t seen since 2019. There’s some strangeness to that. Nervousness perhaps to increase my miles at this time of year. But I’m determined to put my focus back on running.
Increase max weights
I’ve been focusing on lifting heavier this summer and I want in August to focus on increase all of my max weight on all the machines I’ve been doing twice.
Write at least three times
I’m not here to totally revise my blog, but I’d like to write more about non-running things.
