May was quite a memorable month as I got back to the gym consistently for the first time since early 2020. The changes that are happening aren’t visible, but I can feel them. Now I just need to stay consistent the rest of this summer.
Here’s a look back at my May goals:
✅ Lift weights at least twice a week
I ended up focusing on lifting heavier after giving myself a reintroduction to getting to the gym. It’s giving me a new focus and a renewed sense of hope of closing out my 40s strong over the next couple of years.
✅ Keep the 100+ mile streak going
5 months straight of 100 combined running and biking miles! I biked a lot more than I ran, but I feel so much better when I do run than before. It’s been nice giving myself a break without totally stopping.
✅ Finish my “year” plan
I posted about that HERE.
JUNE GOALS
While having 6 straight months of 100 running/biking miles is something I want to do again, as well as continuing to lift weights consistently, I wanted to give myself a little bit of a break from too many specific things.
Less screen time
I actually don’t have screen time reports on my phone, so it’s hard to set a specific goal for this. I thought I’d start by setting a goal of having 25% less screen time in the second half of the month than the first half. I’m starting by taking a few apps off my phone that I know eat up time. We’ll see what happens and then maybe I can have something more specific in July.
Run my age
I’ll be 48 in a few weeks, so I want to run 4.8 miles that day. It may sound weird to have that as a specific goal, but since I’ve cut back on my mileage, getting to 4.8 miles is a nice way to transition into summer to focus on increasing mileage again.
Enjoy my vacation
Yes, another pretty generic goal, but I’m using this time of the year to not get overly obsessed about things. Having a goal to relax is something I need right now.
