There have been many times over the years that setting a few goals each month has worked really well for me. Since I haven’t really been into have any goals at all, I wanted to start the year off keeping things fairly simple.
As I wrote about in my post on Jan. 1, I want to follow-up at the end of the month with how things went, and then set 3 more goals for the next month.
Here’s what I have for January:
Lose 5 pounds
How many times have I said this? Well, let me just say that the second half of 2025 was terrible with my diet. I’m determined to actually try to lose 15-20 pounds before my beach trip in June.
Run 60 miles
A recurring injury set me back so much in October and November, so getting to 60 miles isn’t as simple as usual.
Basement decluttering
I need to make sure that each month at least one of my goals isn’t related to fitness. Right after Christmas I started a major project in my basement with going through things, cleaning up and decluttering. Using the word “finish” is a bit ambitious, so I edited that out of my initial notes for this post. I’m not really sure how to define success with this project, which is a challenge in itself.
