They paved paradise …

A few times a year, I get a very odd satisfaction of running in … parking lots. It’s so weird how the miles can tick by running around a mall or hospital when there’s no one else around.

And when I finish those runs, I like to zoom in on my Garmin data to see how I could add to it. For example, this weekend, there are so many spots where I could have ran some straight lines and then turn up the next row of parking spots.

Or I could have added a second loop to be right next to the mall the whole time.

The hospital that is close to me also has lots of buildings and what feels like unnecessary parking lots, but it’s a perfect place to add miles. In the pic below you can also see where I ran around a hotel and office building parking lot a couple of miles before getting to the hospital.

15 miles of mostly parking lots sounds a bit boring, but I enjoyed every bit of it on Saturday. It was my longest run EVER in February, and a nice change of pace from the neighborhoods I’m used to. It was also a much-needed break from running lots of hills.

Now it’s on to 100+ miles for the month …
