February 2020 will go down in my running history as having the most miles I’ve ever had in the shortest month of the year.
The 113.6 miles were also the most I’ve ever had in a month in the first half of a calendar year. That’s pretty awesome, especially when I had to cut my long run short today for personal reasons (don’t worry, I’m not injured). I was well on my way to 120 miles.
This month also came on a mostly SNOWLESS month in my part of Virginia. We had maybe a quarter inch one night, but nothing worth running in. It’s also been mostly snowless all winter and there have been NO nights in Richmond below 20 degrees.
While I’d prefer it to be a little colder and have some snow, it turned into a good opportunity to run more.
I’ve also thought a lot this month about my return to the Shamrock Half Marathon in March.. YES, there are only three weeks to go. In my previous nine times running this race, I’m pretty obsessed about it at this time period.
Since it’s only part of my Blue Ridge Marathon training, I’m looking at that week to see how I can get to the race on tired legs and see how I can push myself in it. It’s nice not having a time goal or too many thoughts about how to approach it. I just want to return to Virginia Beach and have a good time with thousands of runners.
And how is it that the Blue Ridge Marathon is less than 2 months away?!? I have SO MANY THOUGHTS in my head about that race. Someone find some time for me to write about it and more of my training so far!
