March will mark two years since my last race. YES, you read that correctly. Two. Years.
This spring that horrible streak will finally end as I head back to Roanoke for the Blue Ridge Marathon weekend to run 20 miles less than a marathon.
In what is a deferral from last year’s marathon, and then a downgrade from my deferral, my plan is to take part in the 10K on April 21 that literally goes straight up one of my favorite mountains — Mill Mountain — and then right back down.
It’s a race that won’t make me go for a certain time. I just want to run with other people again — as well as challenge myself in a really different event. And what better place to do it at the weekend that delivered this moment …
