The end of December and the first couple of days of January have become periods of time that I think a lot about making major changes or going for new things, but as I’ve gotten a little bit older, I’m all about refreshing and recommitting.
This year in particular, I’m ready to just keep going from the final few months of the year, which were among the best I’ve had in years with the way I felt.
I do need to eat better and refocus on nutrition, so the start of the year is a great way to do the things I’ve always done. And a lot of that is putting down those Christmas cookies and extra snacks later in the day.
Racing more in 2020?
If things fall into place, I’ll race more this year than I have in a calendar year since 2015. I already have three races on my calendar – Shamrock in March, Blue Ridge in April, and Surf ‘n’ Santa in December. I’ll sign up for a fall race after the Blue Ridge Marathon.
I’m already excited about returning to the Shamrock Half Marathon for the 10th time, but first since 2016. I don’t have a goal just yet, but I have some things in mind.
And Blue Ridge? I’m starting to not shy away from wanting to be an hour better than last year.
Surf ‘n’ Santa is all about having a fun family weekend to close out the year, hopefully full of celebrating some amazing things over the next 11 months.
Blogging more?
I finally starting writing more last year and now I’m here to recommit to having a post once a month. It’s not for you … it’s for me. I just feel better doing it. My hope is to write more, but let’s start with once a week …
