Yesterday was the first day where I questioned a run streak. I’ve hated them just as much as I embrace them, and right now since my mileage is low and feeling lame, a mile felt so pointless.
I managed to recruit my almost 8-year-old to go out with me somewhat late and we hit the nearby trail and stopped at the workout stations to break up the route.
During the stops, I managed to do 36 squats, 36 seconds of balancing on each leg and 36 crunches.
If I hadn’t started blogging about this goal this week, I wouldn’t have gone out on Thursday. “Tomorrow” would have been my mindset and Friday would have been another starting over day.
And speaking of “tomorrow,” today I kept things low-key with 36 wall push-ups and a mile run — this one with my other son in the stroller and a final little tenth of a mile with him on our road.
Getting my family involved is the biggest reward so far with this low mileage.
Eventually I will run more than a mile — maybe even in the morning — and eventually I’ll feel “back,” but damn, I have a long way to go.
