You’re invited to #runchat

Tonight on Twitter, #runchat will make it’s debut courtesy of me and Scott from iRunnerBlog.
It’s work like this: beginning at 8 p.m. one of us will ask a running-related question using the hashtag #runchat. You answer; you re-tweet other people’s answers; you respond to other people’s answers. If you’re not familiar with Twitter, it’s really that simple. Earlier this week I discovered TweetChat, which makes following the conversations for the particular tag really easy. Just log in to that site with your Twitter account, put in the tag and boom — you can join in the conversation without even having to retype #runchat.

The #runchat will last from 8-9 p.m. ET. We’ll post a new question every 5-10 minutes, depending on the nature of the conversations going on. Please note that the official questions will come only from me (@RunningBecause) and Scott (@iRunnerBlog).

If you’re not familiar with how a chat works, there are a number of ways to do this. Use TweetChat as mentioned above; if you use TweetDeck or Hootsuite, create a new column with the #runchat tag to follow along; or if you use the web-based Twitter, create a new saved search with #runchat. No matter how you follow along, please use the hashtag in each of your posts so I can read all the responses. Some of your answers will be used in a follow-up blog within a few days.

If you have any questions about this, please leave them in the comments section below or ask me on Twitter before the chat gets under way.

Just wanted to tell you that this was BRILLIANT! Such a great idea 🙂

And I will get a notepad just for tracking. I think it's a good idea. Will keep me on top of my game. I just never got really into it for my Half. There were so many other things I was tracking that mileage was getting logged in my head.

Thanks for all the run tips and looking forward to next week's #runchat!
