16 funky miles

16 miles, #runchat
I think once every training cycle, I question what the hell I’m doing out there.

Sometimes it just doesn’t feel worth it.

Today was one of those days.

It was crazy humid, I felt sluggish the entire run, and I almost stopped several times.

Around mile 13, when I could have easily taken a turn home, I thought about a run I had last year — I titled that post Slamming into the wall.

I wasn’t going to let that happen again.

I sucked it up, got it done. The couple of hours after the run weren’t the best, but I’m over those feelings now and ready to move along.

There’s certainly no need to dwell on it.

That map really shows how hard it is to plot a neighborhood long run. Much easier if you have a long trail for an out-and-back. The weather sucked this weekend. It’s got to get better soon, right?

There are plenty of places I could do an out-and-back, but I think I’d rather scratch my nails against a chalkboard for 2 hours. So boring.

I swear there’s something about that distance, 15-16 where mentally it’s tough! And when the weather is gross, it makes it way harder than it needs to be. Oh well, you got a tough one done, onward to better runs!

That is a funky route you took! Way to go on digging deep and still completing the miles! That can be so hard, but you did it! Hopefully you have a run coming up that redeems it for you! Oh, and hey – we thought of you this weekend as we were chatting with a man at the end of Disneyland Half. He was raving about RnR VA Beach and then said the Shamrock Half is a fabulous race too! We told him we had heard that from a fellow runner!

Shamrock is the best! I hope you two decide to do it sometime. I’ve done RnR VB a couple of times, but not a fan of that course (or weather).
