Welcome to the gun show

“Why I bought my Baltimore Marathon race photos” was too long of a title.
Baltimore Marathon

But yeah, for the first time ever, I bought the “official” race photos all because of the picture above. I said before I left for Baltimore that I was going to have fun, and part of having fun was showing off for the camera.

Great picture! Poor guy hidden behind your left gun probably isn't very happy with it!

    Congratulations!Three observations:
    1. Awesome photo
    2. I have the same shoes as you
    3. The guy behind you in the $150 Newtons is heel striking like its his job.

Thanks Michael — yes, his heel strike makes mine not look so bad. His actually kind of hurts to look at. I'm actually disappointed that this photo shows me heel striking (my shoes don't wear on the heels hardly at all), but this was a bit downhill. As far as my shoes go, I love the Brooks Ravenna. I'm close to buying another pair while I can still find them.

You were probably putting on the brakes a bit for the pose.
I had the Ravenna II and when I realized I needed a new pair about a couple weeks ago (with Marine Corp Marathon coming up on the 30th) I started searching for a less expensive option. I found the Ravennas at therunningwarehouse.com and with a 10% off coupon I got them for $49 with free 2nd day shipping. I am very happy with that deal.

Definitely a great deal through them. I tried the Ravenna II on and there's something about the toe-off that I just don't like. I'm very much in shoe Limbo right now as the two Ravennas I have are relatively low mileage.

Great pics! When I looked back at my old race photos, I realized I was stone-faced or even grimacing much of the time. For my last triathlon I made it a point to smile for the cameras, no matter how I was feeling at the time. It made a huge difference in my overall outlook and the way I look back at the event. This race was such a positive event for you, and the pictures prove it.

Awesome pose. Seems like the baltimore photographers knew a little more about lighting than the ones in Chicago did. I have race photos where half my face is in the shade & half in the sunlight.Did you buy that 2nd photo too, he one with the medal? That your wife could have just taken!

I bought all the photos because I liked most of the ones. As for the second one, I like that because it was less than a minute after finishing. It was a pure, genuine emotional moment. 15 minutes later would have been fake and posed. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
