Last month pretty much summed up the way most of this year has gone: there were some really good moments, a few bad ones and some disappointments.
To start with one of my disappointments, I didn’t get to 100 miles like I mentioned in my “October things” post, but I did run a lot more than I did in October after my setback in September.
Ultimately that was pretty much my goal: do more than the month before and get to December in a better place than I was a year ago when I started training for the Blue Ridge Marathon.
When it comes to “bad” moments, I had some unexpected soreness a couple of times that ended up costing me a few runs. But, I did figure out that my issue was a pair of shoes that I thought I really liked.
I sorted through different social media posts and Garmin connect data and figure out that I had to eliminate a pair of old shoes and another one that I was testing out. I didn’t have any issues the second half of the month.
And the highlight of the month was definitely the 8K on Nov. 16. It made me wish, briefly, that I could be as fast as I used to be. I’m not giving up hope to get faster, but geez … I have a long way to go!
As I look ahead to December, my goals are simple: run a little more than I did in November, go to the gym a few more times and get to 2020 in a good place to kick Blue Ridge Marathon training into high gear.
